WHY GROW ORGANIC?

Because true craft cannabis can’t be rushed or manufactured. It needs time to develop complex terpene profiles, robust cannabinoid expressions, and a clean, smooth finish. You’ll taste it in the flavor. You’ll feel it in the effects. And you’ll know it’s real. At Sweetwater Farms, we believe great cannabis starts with great soil. While most indoor farms rely on synthetic nutrients, we grow naturally—using organic living soil and handcrafted compost teas to feed our plants the way nature intended. This method creates richer terpene profiles, cleaner flavors, and a smoother, more authentic cannabis experience.

No shortcuts. No synthetic residues. Just pure, small-batch craft cannabis—grown the right way.

“Sweet” Soil - Our Living Soil

Growing cannabis in living soil has become a dying art, but it is by far the most natural way to produce the cleanest cannabis. Our living soil acts as a thriving ecosystem, housing beneficial microbes, fungi, and natural nutrients that work together to feed and protect our plants. Instead of dumping bottled fertilizers onto inert media, we brew custom organic compost teas that deliver everything our flower needs—gently, sustainably, and without residue. This approach isn’t just better for the environment; it’s better for the plant and, most importantly, better for you. When working with any living organism there are always challenges, like how soil can be messier compared to other grow mediums, but the outcome is what we are in the game for. Like a fine wine, soil that is harvested, composted and fed correctly will only get better with age. As we continue to use our “Sweet Soil” over time, the terpene profiles, freshness and even THC content will continue to trend in the right direction helping us create some of the the best weed in Washington.

  • In order to ensure that microbial life is thriving in our soil we add a "Beneficial Microbial Tea" at the beginning of the flower cycle for each of our plants.

Microbial life in our soil is paramount to support a healthy ecosystem and plant. Inputs such as kelp, molasses, alfalfa meal, worm castings, compost and bokashi are carefully brewed for 24-28 hours before delivering the Tea to our plants.

  • When needed, we use an organic bio-active liquid fertilizer made from fish, shrimp and crab caught in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Washington and Oregon. The fertilizer goes through cold-process enzymatic digestion to ensure quality and stabilization.

The Slow Cure

After our flower is harvested, we use a 60/60 cure technique (60 degree, 60% humidity) to let the terpene profile of each strain shine through. This is an overlooked, yet essential step in the ART of creating a final product that smokes smooth as well as tastes and smells great.
